Ginkgo Biloba stands as a living fossil, unchanged for over 200 million years. Its fan-shaped leaves emerge a pale green in spring, deepen to glossy green through summer, then light up in a brilliant golden-yellow in autumn. Male selections are favoured in landscapes to avoid the messy, malodorous seeds produced by females. Ginkgo tolerates urban stress—heat, pollution, soil compaction—and resists pests and diseases. Plant it as a specimen, in an avenue, or lining a street where strong structure and standout fall colour are desired.
